Scout, Chapter 1I stopped the car in front of Kevin’s house. I saw him packing, he glanced over to my car, and smiled, he waved. I didn’t wave back; my reaction was much less casual. I jumped out of the car and burst into tears. “Why didn’t you tell me you were leaving 3 days early?” I managed to choke out the words. “There was a change of plans, there is bad weather to be expected tomorrow and the week following.” He smiled and loaded the last suitcase before closing the trunk.
